Kaulquappe: After a few months testing with the €185 device MTD-H5-2.0: Doesn't run stable with smstools too, at least when used to receive SMS.
Kaulquappe: I've now bought two MTD-H5-2.0 as suggested by Machtl. I hope they work and will come back when I have results.
Kaulquappe: I've tested the K3772 with smstools now for long time: It does not work for long-term use. It works a day and then stops working. I don't know if smstools or the K3772 is the reason for this.
Kaulquappe: Thats correct but it is €185 and a Huawei Stick is €5.
Kaulquappe: Now I only get hundreds of them while modem is working: 2018-08-12 23:04:30,3, DE0: Unexpected input: ^STIN: 7, 0, 0 ^STIN: 7, 0, 0 2018-08-12 23:04:43,3, DE0: Unexpected input: ^STIN: 7, 0, 0 ^STIN: 7, 0, 0 2018-08-12 23:04:57,3, DE0: Unexpected input: ^STIN: 7, 0, 0 ^STIN: 7, 0, 0 2018-08-12 23:05:00,3, DE0: Unexpected input: ^STIN: 7, 0, 0 2018-08-12 23:05:10,3, DE0: Unexpected input: ^STIN: 7, 0, 0 ^STIN: 7, 0, 0 2018-08-12 23:05:23,3, DE0: Unexpected input: ^STIN: 7, 0, 0 ^STIN: 7, 0, 0 2018-08-12 23:05:37,3, DE0: Unexpected input: ^STIN: 7, 0, 0 ^STIN: 7, 0, 0 2018-08-12 23:05:40,3, DE0: Unexpected input: ^STIN: 7, 0, 0 2018-08-12 23:05:50,3, DE0: Unexpected input: ^STIN: 7, 0, 0 ^STIN: 7, 0, 0 2018-08-12 23:06:03,3, DE0: Unexpected input: ^STIN: 7, 0, 0 ^STIN: 7, 0, 0 2018-08-12 23:06:17,3, DE0: Unexpected input: ^STIN: 7, 0, 0 ^STIN: 7, 0, 0 2018-08-12 23:06:20,3, DE0: Unexpected input: ^STIN: 7, 0, 0 2018-08-12 23:06:30,3, DE0: Unexpected input: ^STIN: 7, 0, 0 ^STIN: 7, 0, 0 2018-08-12 23:06:43,3, DE0: Unexpected input: ^STIN: 7, 0, 0 ^STIN: 7, 0, 0 2018-08-12 23:06:57,3, DE0: Unexpected input: ^STIN: 7, 0, 0 ^STIN: 7, 0, 0
Kaulquappe: Operating system name and version: Debian 9.4 (Stretch) Version of smsd: 3.1.15 Smsd installed from: package repository Name and model of a modem / phone: Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. K3772 Interface: /dev/ttyGSM0 When I remove my USB modem I get this error messages: 2018-08-07 17:38:09,3, AT0: write_to_modem: error 5: Input/output error 2018-08-07 17:38:19,3, AT0: write_to_modem: error 5: Input/output error 2018-08-07 17:38:30,3, AT0: write_to_modem: error 5: Input/output error The problem is: When I reconnect the USB modem the error messages keep showing up, they do not go away. smsd does not realize that the interface is available again. The interface (/dev/ttyGSM0) does not change because it gets automatically symlinked by udev, so that does not cause the issue: /etc/udev/rules.d/20-gsm0.rules SUBSYSTEMS=="usb", KERNELS=="1-1.5:1.0", SYMLINK+="ttyGSM0"
Kaulquappe: Currently I use the K3772. I'm not sure if it is stable for long-term use but so far both receiving and sending of SMS work.
Kaulquappe: Now I also get these errors: 2018-08-06 12:24:49,3, AT0: Error: Modem is not registered to the network 2018-08-06 12:28:20,3, AT0: Error: Modem is not registered to the network 2018-08-06 12:31:52,3, AT0: Error: Modem is not registered to the network Hundreds of them: 2018-08-05 21:10:43,3, AT0: Unexpected input: ^STIN: 7, 0, 0 2018-08-05 21:10:55,3, AT0: Unexpected input: ^STIN: 7, 0, 0 ^STIN: 7, 0, 0
