VVV: We tried migrate to 3.1.15 from special version 3.1.14-VVV-3 created here : http://smstools3.kekekasvi.com/topic.php?id=557&page=2.
During this migration server PC itself, Windows OS , and Cygwin version have been changed up to most recent ones.
However we have faced with same error described in http://smstools3.kekekasvi.com/topic.php?id=557&page=2 :
2014-04-05 08:36:16,2, M12: Fatal error: Cannot delete /var/spool/sms/aus/it1nm9 . Check file and dir permissions.
2014-04-05 08:36:16,2, M12: Modem handler 9 terminated abnormally. PID: 6312.
Error appeared for the first time after 3 weeks of working.
I have reinstalled previously accepetd version : 3.1.14-VVV-3.
( it worked fine for us on old server ).
Also I have found that such error appear not only on Cygwin : http://smstools3.kekekasvi.com/topic.php?post=5006#post5006.
Keke, could you please include fixes of 3.1.14-VVV-3 into main smsd verison ?
It proved great stability during few years..
Thank you very much for your support!

VVV: For those who see errors like this:
Cannot open serial port /dev/com18, error: No such file or directory
Notation comX only supports up to 16 devices in Cygwin.
To use up to 64 devices on Cygwin one should use ttySx notation.
Please notice difference in numbers:
/dev/ttyS0 == /dev/com1
/dev/ttyS1 == /dev/com2
etc
Please do above mentioned changes in your smsd.conf file.

VVV: I think you can't use php script as eventhandler: eventhandler = /var/src/smsop.php
As far as I know, bash script must be used here.
For example such as in link : http://smstools3.kekekasvi.com/topic.php?id=299
Please try to use bash script.

Hello everybody,
we are using smsd with about 12-16 modems. Currently we are searching for opportunities to host our sms server in Data Centre (DC) . Our trouble is that DC doesn't want to host server with modems. To solve this situation we consider the following setup:
a) sms server is located in DC without modems
b) modems are located at separate site
c) points a) and b) are connected via Internet
d) in point b) we can use device like http://www.virtualserialport.com/products/serial-over-ethernet/ , to make modems available for server at point a)
My questions are:
1) Whether such setup is reliable enough?
2) Whehter somebody used similar setup?
3) How good in quality serial communications over Internet are?

VVV: Thank you for above reminder :)
So our first task is to detect whether modem process remians in memory or not.

Hello keke,
we have 10 GSM modems in our setup. Since your last help, system works fine. We have no more troubles with file movings and lockings.
Several days ago I noticed new issue with one of modems. Modem is called M9 and is connected to COM9.
Below are log fragments ( smsd and trouble ) related to that modem process:
2011-06-15 12:29:47,2, smsd: Smsd v3.1.14-VVV-3 started.

...
2011-06-22 09:58:27,5, M9: SMS sent, Message_id: 81, To: ..., sending time 12 sec.
As can be seen, last activity of that modem was in 2011-06-21 14:12:48,5. After that modem stopped sending and receiving anythinhg. But there are no any trouble records in any of log for that period. I am not sure whether modem process was in memory, but during smsd restart at 2011-06-22 09:57:53,2 , that process is not listed in stop list. After smsd restart modem started working properly.
My questions:
a) is it possible that during such "hang up" modem process continues to read spooler dir ?
b) Have you seen such issue in your practice ?
c) what are possible reasons of the issue ?
d) what could be done to prevent it / diagnose further ?
My conf file was unchanged since previous discussion, let me know if you need it again.
And help you very much for kindly support.
