almaruf: Operating system name and version: Win XP
Version of smsd: 3.1.5
Smsd installed from: sources
Name and model of a modem / phone: Skype phone S2
Interface: USB
Hello all,
I have managed to run the service successfully to send sms to many recipients at once. And all the success goes to the developer and Keke for his excellent helps all the time.
Now I am looking forward to use it robustly, I have few things in mind those I think is possible to use.
> I am trying to send sms to many recipients using one file. ( I have seen the post here that contains the script but I rally dont know how to run and enable the script in my Windows Xp environment using Cygwin)
> Secondly, I am looking for a reporting technique that will enable me to identify which SMS was sent and which was not sent at a one go if I have used many recipients.
> I wanted to read and save the incoming SMS to Mysql database.
Thanks for any help

almaruf: Hhello Boss,
I have used successfully the system with Windows and Cygwin to send sms to many recepients. the problem was :roll: with the number format ans smsc I defined correctly now and it works .
For help to other people the number format I used succesfully is
+44 7943000000 Dont use the leading zero and the other one that usually we put before starting the actual local number as my number is 07943773200 .. but when I am using the SMSTools3 I used +447943773200 and that works for me ...... and also the smsc number is better defined I think ....
thanks a lot lot for this excellent system ....... CHEERS !!!!!!

almaruf: thanks boss.
I have tried changing the ports and got success one time only .. next time I reconnect the modem and the things go wrong again . Is there any way that I can assign a device permanently to one COM port so that i dont need to change the settings all the tim eI reconnect the device to the PC. Or what do u suggest ? do I need to change the OS ? if yes then which one I can change to ?? I do not have a good experience with UNIX based OS's.
Thanks once again for such a lovely piece of work.. and any help will be greatly appreciated.

almaruf: Operating system name and version: Windows XP
Version of smsd: 3.1.6
Smsd installed from: sources
Name and model of a modem / phone: Nokia E71

Hello,
I am a newbie in cygwin or Linux environment. I have successfully installed the smstools3 in my windows Xp environment. I have few issues like :
1. When I run the smsd command there is an error for this one :
My conf is as follows:
devices = GSM1
logfile = /var/log/smsd.log
loglevel = 7
[GSM1]
device = /dev/com27
incoming = no
pin = ignore
My error log file is this :
2010-03-06 02:19:51,2, smsd: Smsd v3.1.6 started.
2010-03-06 02:19:51,2, smsd: Running as al maruf:None.

2010-03-06 02:19:51,3, GSM1: Cannot open serial port /dev/com27, error: No such file or directory
2010-03-06 02:19:51,2, GSM1: Modem handler 0 terminated. PID: 1552, was started 10-03-06 02:19:51.
why the modem can not found? In my windows device manager the MODEM part shows the E 71 modem is on port 27 but in the PORT(COM & LPT shows the E 71 is in COM31 ) , I dont know which one to use , and when I use if shall I use device = /dev/27 style of code ? Please let me know and keep in mind that I am using Cygwin in XP. I have tried another used port numbers those dont shows the device is found but those are not modems so those doesnt go further .....
Thanking you in advance
