Try with init = AT+CPMS="SM". If it does not help, use a modem setting report_device_details = yes and show those details here.

Are sure that there should be a message received in the modem? As your modem is Huawei, you could use the following settings: [GSM1] init = AT+CPMS="SM";+CNMI=2,0,0,2,1 init2 = AT^CURC=0 memory_start = 0 ussd_convert = 2 signal_quality_ber_ignore = yes 'smsdconf' Syntax Highlight powered by GeSHi Please check what ports are provided by the modem ( ls -l /dev/serial/by-id/ ). If there are three ports, try to use the last one, for example device = /dev/ttyUSB2. Try to send a message to SIM's own number.

Was there /dev/ttyUSB2 and did you try it?
As the modem did not accept AT^CURC=0, perhaps the firmware is bad. You need to comment out init2 setting.
Have you tried to send SMS? If not, you should try to send SMS to it's own number, to see how sending works.

Yes, i tried all ports.. Quote As the modem did not accept AT^CURC=0, perhaps the firmware is bad. You need to comment out init2 setting.
I also tried this, but with no success Quote Have you tried to send SMS? If not, you should try to send SMS to it's own number, to see how sending works.
Sending SMSs works fine, i also tried sending an SMS to it's own number but with no success on receiving it. I will buy another modem. Thank you so much for your answers. Best regards, Cezar

I bought a new 100% original Huawei E1750 and it worked. Lesson learned again.
Thank you @keke for your answers!
