Operating system name and version: OpenSUSE 11.2 x64 (2.6.31) Version of smsd: 3.1.6 Smsd installed from: sources Name and model of a modem / phone: Nokia 5220 Interface: USB I have problems getting the above phone to work. Maybe you have some suggestions. The smsd.conf: The dmesg output: And finally the smstools3 log output: Is there a chance at all to get this phone running or do I have to look for another model? Thank you!

Sorry, you have to look for another model. While looking, consider to select a real modem.
Nokia 5220 is a smart phone which is based on Series 40 platform. Those devices with S40 3rd edition (and also with S60) can only send messages. Incoming messages are not shown through the AT command interface.

6610 is a S40 based device too, but 2nd edition or below because incoming messages can be read. Assuming that this device supports PDU mode, it can be used with Smstools3. Usually PDU mode is supported, only few very old devices may support ASCII mode only and cannot be used.
