Operating system name and version: Debian Lenny Version of smsd: 3.1 Smsd installed from:package repository Name and model of a modem / phone: Teltonika ModemUSB/G10 Interface: USB Hi. I am trying to send sms messages from a Debian machine. Currently, receiving sms messages works without a problem, but when I try to send a message, I receive the following error: Quote Explanation: Network out of order The modem said ERROR or did not answer.
This is the full log: As I can receive messages, I don't think the network should make any problems. I would appreciate any help.

Are you sure that the number of smsc is correct?
You could try without setting smsc. Reset your modem first before trying.
It the sending still does not work, you could try if you can send SMS with this SIM in your handset.
When using PIN, your device needs a setting pinsleeptime = 5 (or 6). But it does not cause the current problem.

Thanks for bringing me on the right path I tried the SIM in my handset, and realized that sending sms doesn't work there either. After a short while I realized that I mistook the smsc option for the sender number, and that the setting was written permanently on the SIM card. That's why it didn't work without the setting either. Now that I set the correct number for the messaging center on the SIM, sending SMS works perfectly. Thanks.
