Operating system name and version: Windows XP
Version of smsd: 3.1.6
Smsd installed from: sources
Name and model of a modem / phone: Nokia 6102 / Nokia 6230 / Sierra 885
Interface: serial / USB

It happens from time to time that when the phone or modem are sending sms, it sends the PDU to the device and it waits for answer but the device (phone or modem indistinct) does not respond ever, is there a way to tell the device that if it does not respond after 60 seconds (variable) to restart the conecction or tell the device to try again?

This is the log for the issue:

After this the device wont do anything and the only solution i have found so far is to restart the whole smsd daemon, this is not optimal cause the other modems are still working properly :(

Thanks in advance!!

The smsd will try sending three times, and after this the message is moved to the failed folder (if defined). There is no option for restart the modem process, but you could try the setting keep_open = no, it may help.

Does this error happen with all devices, or just with single one?

Even when your other modems are working properly, restarting the whole daemon will not take too much time. Also it's safe, if restarting is done with the init.d script.

Your log looks very strange  . GSM4 is sending SMS to 528112747818, but in the PDU the number is 0740029733. Type of address is 0x92, which means international, but numbering plan identification is illegal. The number looks like a national number. There is also SMSC included, but as far as I know, smsd does not include SMSC in the PDU ;). Are you sure that the log and the PDU was created by the (unmodified) smsd?
