I had problems with compiling:

I allready installed:
gcc GNU Compiler Collection
make GNU Make

by using
apt-get install gcc
and
apt-get install make

What could be wrong?

Solved:

Just installed:
apt-get install build-essential

Install manpages-dev too, it may be useful later if changing some settings which refers to man command (man strftime of something...).
