Operating system name and version: SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11.1 (x86_64)
Version of smsd: 3.1.14
Smsd installed from: sources
Name and model of a modem / phone: ISDN
Interface: serial

For redundancy and fallback reasons, I'm trying to configure smsd to use a GSM _and_ an ISDN modem. I configured like that:

Currently, it doesn't seem to work, because I'm getting "Modem did not accept mode selection" even though I set "mode = old".

So, is there any howto or configuration reference specific to ISDN modem setup or has someone a hint on doing this? The second problem will be how to set this up - based on the existing YAPS configuration it seems that I need different smsc configuration for the different recipient networks (D1, D2, o2 etc.). Don't know how to handle this either (yet).

Smstools3 works only with GSM modems. SMS for ISDN (ETSI ES 201 912 SMS protocol) is not supported, and as there are other softwares available for this, I do not event think to add this support to Smstools3.

For redundancy and fallback you could use checkhandler to handle messages. In the SMS file define a queue like ISDN, which is not presented in smsd.conf. When checkhandler finds out that ISDN queue is used, it can send message using yaps, and tell to smsd that SMS was spooled by checkhandler. This post: Sample checkhandler to spool messages using another Smstools3 server explains the idea.
