I'm stuck. Please help me.
The modem im using is nokia 6210. Its working well with hyperterminal, i can send sm and read sm from it. But i cant seem to make it connect with sms server tools, i've already tried sending message to the nokia 6210 while the sms server tools is running but the incoming message folder never gets anything. Also, i cant send any text message whenever i use sendsms command.

Here's the smsd.conf

Here's the logfile:

Update:
• Why is it that the logs are not showing any info with regards to the init command I inserted in the smsd.conf?
• Since I'm using cygwin, I changed the device to com1 instead of ttyS0.
• I also used a different phone on this one, I'm using two nokia 6210.

New smsd.conf

At first I thought I was having some sort of communication problem for I was using Windows Xp Pro as the host OS and then on VMware I installed Fedora 10 and there I was trying to make sms server tools work. I'm pretty sure that the phone and guest OS Fedora is working for I was able to send commands and read and send SM through minicom.

But still no luck.

So I tried it on bare Windows XP, used hyperterminal and the phone seems to be responding very well.

Im using two (2) Nokia 6210 btw. and I tried em both already.

What am i doing wrong? Sigh. Please help.

I think you adapter is broken as it does not handle clear to send signal correctly. Communication with Minicom works because it does not use handshaking. With smsd you can disable handshaking with rtscts = no in the modem sections of smsd.conf file. However, running smsd with handshaking disabled is not recommended, but you can test if it has any effect.

Nokia 6210 works very well with smsd, this phone is not a problem.

Thank you so much keke!

After three-four grueling days, i finally found the right configuration for my setup.
If you are using a nokia 6210 and is encountering same problem as mine, consider adding the two lines below:

baudrate = 9600
rtscts = no

Thanks,

what I have found out, is that too low baudrate is not good enough for 6210 with DLR-3P interface. This device works better while using 115200 which is now a default in version 3.1.5 of smsd. As I wrote, handshaking should work while using this adapter (the original one or it's clone). Otherwise there will/may be troubles when you are reaching high capacity of a message delivering.

Please check your smsd.logs carefully, at least use the smart_logging feature. When your site reaches much of traffic, there may be unpleasant surprises in the communication.

I do not recommend to use rtscts = no, please fix (if it's possible) your hardware. Turning off the handshaking is just for the testing purposes...

I did tried using the default value for baudrate and rtscts but using them gives me same error as this: GSM1: Modem is not clear to send

baudrate = 9600/115200 works on me
rtscts = no

If i turn on the handshake I get an error. I dont know why. Is it because of the cable I'm using? By the way, this is the cable I'm using self-made dlr3p from that website.

I bought 4pcs dlr3p clone cable but none of them worked. Further research lead me to atrox.at and decided to build one and it worked, finally got a response from the hyperterminal/minicom compared to the other 4pcs which didn't gave any response at all.
