Hi,
it would be a nice feature, if smstools could implement a catcher for a user signal (like SIGHUP or USR1?) to reopen it's log files.
The reason why i'm requesting is that my smsd installation should be high available without a downtime while rotating the log file. This whole maintenance action takes perhaps only less than 1 to 3 seconds but it could represent an error in my cluster node checks.
Unfortunately my C skills are not as good to present you a patch for this feature request.
I hope this idea of improvement can help other users as well.

Too complicated for all things to consider. Restarting the whole daemon does not take too long and should be enough.
