Operating system name and version: Centos 6.5 Version of smsd: 3.1.21 Smsd installed from: sources Name and model of a modem : Huawai E171 Interface: USB Hi all, I've had My SMSTools3 server running for a long time now with no issues. Using it for over 10 years... I am in Australia and they have now turned off most of the 2G network. I have a 4g Sim and 4g capable modem but I still get this in the logs: It never registers and the light on the dongle represents no service at all. However, the weird thing is, I have another gateway set up in a different location using the same hardware and cell provider and it is working fine... (I suspect there is still an active 2g service close to it) Is there anything I can do? Is this whole project to waste when 2G is completely turned off? « Last edit by elnino on Wed Aug 16, 2017 05:13, 88 months ago. »

Hi there
I got rid of the sim800 arduino gsm boards and bought a 3g modem from aliexpress. This works fine.
What modem are you using ?

Perhaps the modem is not compatible anymore, or it is broken. SMS does not disappear when 2G service ends. It is using the signalling channel which is available as long as the GSM network is up.

I have tried the E171 and MF668 and both don't seem to be able to get a connection to the network. Is there some setting/AT command that I need to send to them to force a certain method for sending SMS?
