Probably you have to select some communication mode in the phone, "PC Suite" with Nokia. I do not know about HTC.

If the device still does not answer, try different ports and different baudrates.

In any case, your devices are "to smart". With Nokia you will not be able to read messages, because those kind of devices do not show messages through the external interface.

Probably I did not understand :( ... Do you mean a device?

After you plug in your device, what does dmesg say?

Have you tried with device = /dev/ttyp2?

Some devices provide more than one port, and there is no general rule for selecting which one will work. You just have to try with all possibilities.

You could disconnect the device, run dmesg -c, and reconnect the device. After the device is settle, run dmesg and show the result here.

It looks like you first connected phone using "file transfer" mode, then disconnected and reconnected using "PC Suite" mode. Something is missing, or goes wrong, but I do not know what.

When I connect N95 using "PC Suite" mode, dmesg says:

Is your box "Synology DiskStation DS<something>"?

I changed the configuration of my telephone so it would be default in "PC Suite"-mode.

But after changing and disconnect and connect i get this in /var/log/messages

Oct 16 18:20:21 kernel: usb 1-1.3: new full speed USB device using ehci_platform and address 45
Oct 16 18:20:21 kernel: Got empty serial number. Generate serial number from product.

You had those messages previously in output of dmesg too.

Is your box "Synology DiskStation DS<something>"? If not, then what is the name and model?

Hello Keke,

It's indeed a diskstation from Synology.

You probably need to update the kernel, or add ACM support to it, create udev or mdev rules, or something...

I think that Synology's forum will give the best help for you: http://forum.synology.com/enu/

Just for curiosity, what is the exact model of your Synology DiskStation?

I did not find operating system for DS206, but based on quick view with DS207 and DS1010+ it seems that those boxes have no support for USB modems.

If you like, you could check what you have in /tmp directory, and if there is a file usbdebug, remove it and plug in your phone. After hotplug has failed, check what is in that file.

Hello Keke,

Sorry, it is a 207+; Os is busybox i believe. I installed the last firmware this morning.

I did read some forum topics of other people who could connect a mobile device with the diskstation.

/tmp/usbdebug gives these alerts after connecting the mobile device:

What is the output from dmesg and what is in /tmp/usbdebug?

You could unplug the phone first, then delete /tmp/usbdebug and run dmesg -c. After that reconnect the phone and show the output.

Please try again:

- disconnect the phone
- rm /tmp/usbdebug
- dmesg -c
- connect the phone
- wait couple of seconds
- show the output

Try this:

mknod /dev/ttyACM0 c 188 0

Then repeat exactly as in post #21.
