Dear, I have a monitoring server (Nagios) who need to send SMS's through my Portech GSM Gateway. Both monitoring server and GSM Gateway are connected through LAN.

I think if my GSM device is a serial modem, it's easy to send SMS's.

But, is it possible for smstools to send SMS's messages through a GSM device (gateway in this case) connected via a LAN interface (Ethernet) ??? Or how can I do that ???

Yes, using network GSM devices is working well. I do it with a Multitech MTCBA-G-EN-F4-ED-EU for example.

Because the file defines:

[GSM1]
device = /dev/ttyUSB0

and if my GSM device is not local, can I do this definition:

[GSM1]
device = IP_GSM_Gateway

OK thank you, but if you have more configuration parametersfrom smstools used with our gsm gateway I ask for them please because I don't know if it's necessary user and pass of the gsm gateway, why is port 5000, and any more.....

Hi Alexander, sorry I dont know your Gateway. I was only writing about using GSM Network devices in general and the one I'm using. Port 5000 is the Port I configured (in this case it's also the default) for my device in it's web interface configuration. If possible I would help, but I dont know this Gateway. My understanding is that sms server tools needs exclusive access to the network device using a socks connection.
