Operating system name and version: Linux Fedora Core 12 Version of smsd: 1.16 Smsd installed from: package repository Name and model of a modem / phone: HUAWEI E220 HSDPA UTMS 3G USB MODEM Interface: USB
I am using smstools to receive and send messages. Everything works great except that it attempts to read every single memory space (1-30) even if there is no messages. I know that it should be able to check for a new message first and then only it reads the incoming message at the location. Any suggestions?
Thanks Al Grims

Probably there is one SMS in memory, and by default smsd starts from index 1. With Huawei devices the first index is 0, and a modem setting memory_start = 0 is required. As an alternative setting, you could try check_memory_method = 31 which is faster than default method.
